CAPTAIN – ALEXANDROS RAFTOPOULOS
Captain Alexandros was born June 20, 1969, is married with three wonderful children, and speaks fluent English. He obtained a Yacht Master’s Certificate in Southampton, England, a Merchant Marine Officer’s Diploma from the Greek National Maritime Academy, a Yacht-Master Examiner Certificate from the International Yachting Association from the U.S.A, and a Coastal Skipper and Day Skipper Certificate from the Royal Yachting Association from the U.K. Alexandros has had experience on Maxi sailing yachts since 1990 and his knowledge at sea is proven once you have the great opportunity to sail with him on board Swans most magnificent work of art, “Eratosthenes”. His expertise in organizing charters throughout the Greek Islands and the Mediterranean waters comes as naturally as his love and devotion to his profession. When not in command, Alexandros is a man with many talents, who adores music and enjoys playing the piano. Furthermore, he loves archery, painting, r/c modelling, water skiing, and windsurfing.

CHIEF OFFICER– MARCO
Chief Officer Marco has many years of experience racing and cruising sailboats. He has a captain’s license, Yacht Master certificate, all STCW certificates & Italian seaman book. An avid diver he also has a diving license. In 2021 he managed and owned a small business dealing with boat repairs.


ENGINEER – STAVROS VARVARESOS
Engineer Stavros was born January 3, 1977, is happily married with two wonderful children, and speaks fluent English. Stavros obtained an Engineer’s Certificate from the Greek Merchant Marine Academy. Once he obtained his certificate, Stavros proceeded to serve on board luxury yachts, and he is specialized in maxi sailors since 2002. Stavros is one of the crew members who makes sure that your sailing on board will be an experience you will always remember.


CHEF – MARCO BUSONERO

Chef Marco speaks fluent English and Italian. He comes from the small town of Porto Santo Stefano on the west coast of, Italy in the Province of Tuscany. Marco was born on the 15th of December 1993. Having worked in top seafood restaurants, bars, and cafes in Greece, Italy, and the UK chef Marco . His approach to cooking onboard S/Y Eratosthenes is to let the sea express its amazing flavours respecting the complex simplicity of each of its creatures combined with the aromas and fragrances of his life experiences. He is a competent deckhand too and an invaluable part of the team!

STEWARDESS – ELENI MARKIDI
Stewardess Eleni was born on December 13, 1995, and speaks fluent Greek, Hungarian, English, and beginner’s German. She attended the Hotels and Catering Public School of Tourism in Anavyssos. With years of experience in the hospitality industry prior to joining yachting, having worked at top-end restaurants and hotels, as well as having worked as an air stewardess, expect only the highest standards of service from her. Eleni is a friendly individual always with a warm smile on her face and looks forward to welcoming her guests onboard and taking care of them!


DECKHAND – GEORGE ARTEMIADIS
Deckhand George was born on the 25th of April 1990. He has many years of experience on motor yachts, joining the yachting industry in 2016 but his desire to work on sailing yachts was greater which led him to where he is today! Prior to joining the yachting industry, George obtained a diploma in plumbing from IEK Delta. He takes great pride in everything working as it should and enjoys broadening his knowledge onboard. His friendly demeanour is a great attribute to the team. George’s favourite pastimes include fishing, cycling, and sailing. He speaks fluent Greek and English.
