On the mainland, in the Argolid hills of the Peloponnese is the ancient Greek theatre of Epidavros dating from the 4th century BC.. In 1954 the theatre was restored and can accommodate 14,000 spectators on 55 rows of stone seats.The Epidavros Festival takes place during the summer. The Greek Tragedies are performed with the shows usually starting at sunset.The surrounding countryside is beautiful and hilly and there are many attractive resorts on the coast. |
